Crate Diggers: Da Beatminerz Still Collecting After 30 Years
Our new series "Crate Diggers" has already taken you to the home studios of Philly DJ Rich Medina and NYC crew I Love Vinyl. In Volume 3, we visit the Brooklyn home of DJ Evil Dee and Mr. Walt aka celebrated hip hop production duo/DJs Da Beatminerz.
The crew made their production debut with NYC rap group Black Moon's 1992 landmark hip hop album Enta da Stage. Since then, they've worked with everyone from Nas to De La Soul to Black Star and continue to build a record collection they've been working on for more than 30 years.
Fuse spoke to the duo among their three floors and tens of thousands of records to discuss digging, stealing from their job and being the first to play a Notorious B.I.G. classic.
