Courtney Barnett Joins Forces with Jack White for "Boxing Day Blues"

The song arrives on her exclusive 7-inch with White's Third Man Records

Earlier this month, we shared with you the latest from Melbourne's Courtney Barnett: A Jack White-produced cover of the Roland S. Howard–penned Boys Next Door track, "Shivers." For those of us without an encyclopedic knowledge of Australian music, he's from the iconic Down Under post-punk band The Birthday Party.

That song will be featured on a single via White's own label, Third Man Recordings. Today it gets a Barnett original for the A-side, titled "Boxing Day Blues."

This tune feels remarkably blues-ier than the rest of the Aussie lady's repertoire, but it's equally as dense. She might be one of the greatest songwriters going, with a real knack for lyrical narratives.

Listen to it above, then click through our list of British bands who are completely revolutionizing their respective genres -- much like Barnett.
