Free the Robots Reveals Where He Found One of His Rarest Records

The producer snagged a vinyl gem from an entirely different continent

This week's installment of Crate Diggers brings hip hop producer Free the Robots (Chris Alfaro) into the hot seat, as host Anthony Valadez picked his brain about his vinyl collection.

When asked to name one of his favorite records, Free the Robots immediately shouted out Sun Ra's 1970 release, Night of the Purple Moon. "It takes me to 'the purple moon.' I've been there a few times," he tells Valadez.

Alfaro gave a surprising answer when asked to reveal one of his rarest records, which was apparently discovered in someone's residential home in Ethiopia. In addition to its interesting origin, the record is also an original—rare indeed!
